MGH, what a strange trip it's been.

Where do I begin....

October 8th-

Now that the immediate family and friends have been notified. I am being admitted to Mass General Hospital on Friday to continue transplant evaluations and treatments at this time. I don’t have a timeline for how long I’ll be or what the plan is next, but I should be learning of that soon. I haven’t had time to write any blog posts due to scrambling to get things together in such a short time, but I promise to update everyone when I know what’s going on myself. Please keep sending positive vibes and thoughts as I start the next leg of the transplant journey.
October 14th-

Heading in for a Cardiac Catheterization this morning around 10:00am, hopefully we get some answers and a game plan after! Wish me luck!

October 17th-

Little update, I’ve made it a week so far, lots of needles, blood work, testing, CT scans, X-rays, the whole shebang. As for today, heading back in for another cardiac cath to see if putting a stent in will help my oxygen levels rise and potentially give me a little more energy. That’s the plan, hopefully! Wish me luck! I'm exhausted, hospital food is bad, and I'm black and blue everywhere, but I’m hopeful to be able to go home for the holidays before the big surgery. Still have some more testing to do and biopsies, but I think I’ve got this. (I really hope I can have a slice of pizza after this.)

Later that night, I had a TIA- A transient ischemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke, is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain that causes stroke-like symptoms, such as facial drooping, arm weakness, and speech difficulties. While a TIA does not cause lasting damage, it is a critical warning sign that a full stroke may occur soon, so it is essential to seek emergency medical care immediately. CT scans were done immediately, MGH staff moved so fast, I don't even recall leaving my bed. I am so thankful they are on top of everything.

October 20th??? -

Liver Biopsy- holy shit, I cannot explain how painful it was, I needed the good drugs for this one. The liver can get very angry when agitated, and oh, did I make it angry! Let's just say the next few days were a morphine induced coma because I can't remember much.

October 24th-

Procedure number 5 today, I’m sore and super thirsty and just ready to bust out of the hospital by now, but I just have to get through this on,e and I can see the finish line. Here we go, wish me luck y'all.

October 28th-

20 days of MGH hospital stay, poked, prodded, bruised, emotional, and restless. I can finally go home for a bit!! I'm excited to be able to spend the holidays with my loved ones. No more testing, no more waiting. I'm finally FREE. (For now…) Thank you all for your support as I navigate this challenging time. I'm excited to see my animals and friends—shoutout to all my nurses and doctors who helped me get to this point. We are still waiting for the big answer, but for now, it just feels good enough to go home.

20 days in the hospital felt like a lifetime, but I'm too stubborn to let it end this way.
